  Turkish Delights

SOMEWHERE NEAR ANKARA, TURKEY - Hey sports fans! Rich Frosting checking in from the friendly confines of a Turkish prison. I don't know what the fuss is all about with Turkish prisons, because they're actually quite cozy. My only gripe is the slow Internet service they provide.

But we're not here to talk about the Internet, which is a dying medium in this sportscaster's humble opinion. Instead, here are some local sports scores.

In the 5th race in Block J, Sir Gnaws-a-lot beat Plague-spreader by a whisker. The winner paid 1.2M TRL (Turkish Lira). The loser was served with a delicious homemade cheese. Sir Gnaws-a-lot moves on to next Thursday's semifinal against the Mr. Scurry - Dirtbiscuit winner.

In the 2003 Fast-off, Akbar of Corum extended his streak of not eating or drinking to an incredible 22 days, easily besting the previous year's best of 18 days, 12 hours, 42 minutes by the late Umit Azal.

Here's hoping that everyone has a safe, prosperous holiday season! I'll be talking to you next from the good ole U.S. of A, where I give you my somewhat late 2003-2004 NBA Preview. My attorney assures me that Turkish law clearly states that anything over 5 kilos of hashish isn't smuggling...it's exporting, regardless of whether or not it was in a suitcase.

Well, gotta run! I've got 2 million on the next round of "What Time Is It Really?".
