PHILADELPHIA, PA - Weather prediction has gotten more and more sophistcated over the last decade. We now have computerized weather stations that can predict weather trends almost as well as a cute blond weathergirl, orbiting satellites that can track storms and are fully armed to bring down incoming nuclear missiles, and the good old fashioned barometer. The barometer is the best weapon for predicting precipitation and is often referred to in the industry as "The Weatherman's Best Friend". With its accurate needle, the barometer is great for predicting imminent rain and snow, but the gauge has a hard time with odds.

Hurricane Chantal Blows Thousands
VILLAHERMOSA, MEXICO - Named after a famous Las Vegas female impersonator, Hurricane Chantal has now been downgraded to a tropical depression. With winds still blowing in the 30-35 mile per hour range, Chantal has seemed to peter out, although heavy rains are still expected.

Front Line Weather
NEWSWIRE - As a meteorologist I consider myself fortunate that I have a face made for radio. I feel nothing but respect for television's weather personalities. Although they heavily research current and future atmospheric conditions, using state-of-the-art computer tracking, weathercows and bunions (a pre-requisite for any quality meteorological college), the average television viewer could care less about anything but what the drive to work is going to be like tomorrow morning.
